Assistant Principals
Dr. Victoria Carlson
Dr. Victoria Carlson is starting her fifth year as Assistant Principal at Hazelwood Central Middle School. She brings over 14 years of education experience to the position, including roles as a classroom teacher and administrative intern at Hazelwood School District and St. Louis Public Schools.
Dr. Carlson received her undergraduate degree from Illinois State University, majoring in secondary English education with a concentration in urban education. She received her master’s degree in education administration from Saint Louis University and is currently studying for her doctorate from Maryville University.
Dr. Carlson is a fierce advocate for equity and inclusion, specifically in the school setting. She has worked diligently to become a trauma-informed educator, receiving several certificates for her work and training. Dr. Carlson has also received certificates in the areas of restorative practices and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Committed to the success of the whole child, Dr. Carlson seeks to provide an equitable school environment for all.
Dr. Robert Payne
Dr. Payne is a dynamic and results-oriented instructional leader, adjunct professor, and professional speaker with over 25 years of cross-industry experience in telecommunications, business, and education. He leads equity-driven initiatives in curriculum, restorative practices, student support, and professional learning. As an adjunct professor at Harris-Stowe State University, he bridges real-world business practices with academic rigor to prepare future professionals.
Known for exceptional team building, mentoring, and leadership development, Dr. Payne has presented at conferences and community forums on topics including culturally responsive teaching, student engagement, and equity in education. He builds inclusive, high-performing teams and fosters collaborative school cultures.
He serves on the boards of the St. Louis Voices Academy, YMCA of Greater St. Louis, and the Guide Right Foundation of St. Louis, and is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Dr. Payne holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and is deeply committed to student success, community empowerment, and lifelong learning.
